港大研究发现H5N1禽流感病毒可感染人类呼吸道

    香港大学医学院2日公布的一项研究结果发现,H5N1禽流感病毒除了可感染人类下呼吸道外,也可感染人类上呼吸道的表皮细胞。

    港大医学院表示,科学界一直认为能够与H5N1禽流感病毒结合,并引起感染的唾液酸受体,只会大量出现于人类下呼吸道的细胞,因此禽流感病毒较难通过人传人感染。而在此项研究中,港大的研究人员发现了H5N1病毒除了能感染人类下呼吸道的肺泡和肺巨噬细胞外,也可感染人类上呼吸道的表皮细胞。

    港大医学院研究人员认为,科学界需要重新评估人体细胞受体与导致H5N1病毒感染的关系,以及理解其它导致感染的因素,包括受体与病毒宿主细胞兼容性。

    上述研究结果已在国际知名学术杂志《自然·医学》上刊登。

Poor human-to-human transmission of influenza A H5N1 virus has been attributed to the paucity of putative sialic acid 2-3 virus receptors in the epithelium of the human upper respiratory tract, and thus to the presumed inability of the virus to replicate efficiently at this site.
